Siva Shankar Reddy from Anantapur is busy in his final year of MBBS, and he is preparing for PG entrance examinations, which he is determined to crack on the first try. Life hasn’t been easy on him, but his determination with the right support has always backed him to face the adversities of life.
After losing his parents at a young age, he and his twin sisters were taken in by their Pedananna and Peddamma, who also have two children of their own. Now, supporting a family of 8 with just his uncle’s earnings as a bus driver was not enough for the family. Despite Siva’s determination, continuing education beyond 8th grade seemed impossible due to financial constraints.
At this critical time, Rural Development Trust (RDT), which they were introduced through a neighbor, stepped in, supporting Siva’s education from 9th grade and his sisters’ education from 7th grade. This support allowed Siva to clear the NEET exam, securing an All India Rank of 51,760 and earning an MBBS seat at the Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Chittoor. RDT’s continued assistance through the Education Sector has been a huge pillar through his journey and in reaching his final year of MBBS.
Siva’s sisters are now in their final year of undergraduate studies, and he is preparing to pursue a postgraduate degree in general medicine.
“Thanks to RDT, I have the chance to achieve my dreams. My goal is to give back to society just as they have helped me,” he says.
Siva’s journey from adversity to ambition highlights the life-changing impact of RDT’s support and his determination to build a brighter future.
