– A tribal poor boy becomes a Doctor
“I am Bhaskar Naik. I come from a village in Gandlapenta mandal of Anantapur district. I was an RDT sponsored boy and studied up to Class X in rural schools. My father was a small farmer. My mother died with oral cancer 10 years ago. My brother works as a cook in a roadside dhaba. Although we had 3 acres of land, it was lying barren for many years due to continuous droughts.
After I finished my secondary education with distinction, RDT sent me to a corporate college for Intermediate. After that, I appeared for medicine entrance test and became eligible for MBBS. In 2014 I joined medical college and subsequently completed my medical graduation successfully. I used to attend ‘Art of living’ classes when in medical college. That helped me to develop positive thinking in life. As I came up from poverty, I know the sufferings of the poor. Therefore, I will certainly help the poor as a doctor. I have never seen God. But Father Ferrer is my true God.”
